Film costumes in Palazzo Braschi
For all the tourists with passion for fashion and cinema heading to Rome, tour guide Rome Jowita Ludwikiewicz suggests the exhibit “I vestiti dei sogni. The excellence of Italian costumes in cinema”, on display in Palazzo Braschi Rome untill March 22, 2015.
The exhibition at the Palazzo Braschi is dedicated to artists and costume designers who made great the Italian and the international cinema. In the Palazzo Braschi exhibition you follow a path that helps to understand the development of Italian cinema from the beginning until now, from silent movies to the great perfection of Oscar winning films such as “The great beauty”.
On show are costumes by Oscar winners Piero Tosi (Oscar for the carrier 2014), Danilo Donati (for Zeffirelli’s “Romeo and Juliet” in 1969 and “Casanova” in 1977), Milena Canonero (Stanley Kubrick’s “Barry Lyndon”, “Chariots of Fire”, and awarded in recently for “Marie Antoinette’ Sofia Coppola) and Gabriella Pescucci (in collaboration on Martin Scorsese’s “The Age of Innocence”).
The exhibit is divided into two parts: the first focuses on the century-old tradition of the Italian school of costumes, while the second displays the garments in combination with the works of the permanent collection of Palazzo Braschi. The exhibition wants to be a tribute to the italian costume design tradition.
There are planned educational activities for children and adults intended to give a wider understanding about the phenomenon of Italian cinema, about it’s multiple aspects and mechanisms that lie behind the scenes. The exhibition will run until March 22, 2015.
